Yet again!!

It's no surprise to me that this blog has been unloved for I dread to think how long! I have been crafting, just not uploading.
I'm off work for the summer so here's hoping I actually manage to upload at least some of the crafty projects I have in mind for the nest few weeks.
Hmmm, we'll see!

Challenge

Myself and a fellow do crafter are both huge fans of an American crafter, known as star of May on YouTube. We love to watch her videos and find ourselves desperately in need of any product she enjoys using.
We set ourselves a challenge of using some of her cards as inspiration for our own and this is my take on one of hers

I'm not entirely sure which card it was, will have to update that later. I'm quite pleased with them, but I prefer the more feminine ones. I couldn't find anything to embellish the top left corner of the more masculine ones and I don't feel buttons have quite done it. Will have to rethink.

Happy crafting

Revamped sewing basket

Hi guys,
Hope you're staying dry in this crazy weather! The only time it seems to stay dry is when I'm on playground duty!

Bit of a random post today. A while ago, I was out shopping with my mum and she wanted to get a new sewing basket because hers was falling apart. I was a bit gutted by this news as she has had the sewing basket since before I was born. So when she said I could have it, I couldn't wait to have a go at giving it a new lease of life.

So I took all the old plastic bits off and my lovely hubbie spray painted the wooden frame silver for me. Then we used some ribbon left over from our wedding decorations to re weave it. I used some of the Happy Days adhesive fabric paper to back the wooden board on the inside of the lid and re-lined it with a fat quarter bundle from one of the docrafts ranges. Et voila.
I have to be honest and say that lovely hubbie did help a lot!

Whaddya think?
Happy crafting everyone

Nappy Owl

A friend of mine is having a baby soon and I wanted to try something new as a present. Lots of friends have had babies recently and I don't like gifting the same thing each time. I saw an owl made from nappies in a cake shop window when I was shopping a while ago so did a bit of googling and came up with this. I love owls so really fancied this as an alternative. I had to keep it neutral as far as colours go as she doesn't know the sex of the baby.
Happy crafting everyone x

Knitting

Following on from the knitting course I went on, I managed to knit my us and a scarf for Christmas. He didn't get it til New Year's Day as it took me ages and I wanted it to be a surprise so I could only knit when he wasn't here. But he says he loves it and I think it looks quite cute, so overall I'm pleased.

Yet again!!

I dread to think how many times I have set this as a new year's resolution, but yet again I'm going to blog more!!! Yeah right!! One day it may actually happen!
There are a couple of other things I am also telling myself that I'm going to do, but I'll be honest, they probably won't happen either!
My aim is to upload at least once a week so I can join in with the docrafts leap blog on a weekly basis. Let's see how that works!

I would just like to wish everyone a very happy, crafty 2014 x

Crochet this time

Following on from my knitting, I enrolled on another course to learn how to crochet. Never done anyone so difficult in my life!! It took me two and a half hours and a LOT of help to just get this. Think it will take a huge amount of time to hone these skills!!

A new kind of crafting

Something totally different for me today. I've been wanting to learn how to knit and crochet for a while now and a friend told me she'd booked onto a knitting course at a local shop. I signed up as well and learned how to cast on, knit, purl and cast off today. Can't tell you how proud I am!!!
One of the girls also learning to knit mentioned that she was running a crochet course in a few weeks so as soon as we'd finished, I signed up for that one too. Then went shopping for wool and needles. Hopefully you'll see some more knitting posts from me in the future!!
Hope everyone's having a nice weekend and getting in lots of crafting xx
